Don't be a DRAG just be a QUEEN

I am so excited to be working again with DRAG-ONS and Marnie Hurst for the upcoming LE CABARET 5.  The Drag-ons are known acts here in the Philippines from their powerful performances as La Fete Sauvage of Shangri-La Hotel Makati’s Zu to Les Gay Follies of Malate as well as several appearances in local television. On the other hand, Marnie Hurst  has honed her craft as a Cabaret artist in Czech Republic! I can't wait to see them shine on stage!

THE DAY I LOST MY MANOLOS!

Hi guys, its been a very busy week for me! Been running here and there due to so many meetings I need to attend. Anyhow, have lots of new entries for the blog, so here's the first one.

Last Monday, I hosted the Press and Beneficiaries Party of MMQ Theatre and Events Group. The event was held at the luxurious home of Michelle Washington. The press party was very intimate with free flowing wine and pica pica all night. Our friends from the media, generous sponsors and friends of MMQ witnessed the formal signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between MMQ and its chosen charities for the Le Cabaret 5. Just to give you a short background, Le Cabaret (which I have been talking about over my past post as my current project) is a fund raising show. This year we choose Hospicio De San Jose, EVA Foundation and Chosen Children Village. So, after all performers, suppliers and the like are paid, all the profit of the show will go to our chosen charities.

But the highlight of the event was when guests started to talk about a drank guy who allegedly took another person's shoes. This scenario reminded me of the episode in Sex and the City where Sarah Jessica Parker's Manolo's got lost in a party she attended. Anyhow, I went to the lawn to check on what is happening. I started to ask Jasmin and Lucci about what happened and they told me exactly the same thing, that the drunk guy might have taken another person's shoes. I started to check all the shoes and eventually I started to look for mine. But lo and behold I couldn't find my shoes! I went through all the shoes again just to double check but unfortunately my black shoes weren't there. I ended up being teased by Michelle and some of my friends and on my way home, I have to use the drank guy's shoes so I don't go home barefooted.

I became quite upset on what happened. It is not really the brand of the shoes that bothers me but its sentimental value. Those shoes were my graduation shoes. I remember buying it in a vintage shop. The shoes were made in Italy and wearing them to events or job interviews is just like wearing my sneakers.

As of this moment, MMQ is still in touch with this multimillionaire guy who accidentally wore my shoes on his way home. I just find it bizarre how the host of the party loses his own shoes in his own event.

My shoes are still here its the second black shoes from top left

Grand Face Off

This is an old video, I think I have posted this a couple of times but since I am starting my blog. I would like to present it again for those who haven't watch it and for those who want to watch it again.

February 9, 2010. The date I won't forget for the rest of my life. This was the day I came face to face with the King of Talk, Boy Abunda. It was very surreal. I couldn't describe what I felt while having the entire interview with him. All those years of joining Extemporaneous and Oratorical competitions paid off. I would like to thank my classmates, our whole BC 142: Production design class for this wonderful collaboration. From pre-production until its showing. Also, I would like to thank Antonio Santos for giving us this one of a kind experience.

The episode was dubbed, "Life as a Cabaret"Michelle and Mari sat down for an hour with Raju Mandhyan discussing MMQ's humble beginnings and accomplishments and also its biggest event to date, Le Cabaret 5!
Thank you Sir Raju and also to Miss Shiela Villena for being so gracious and wonderful :D

MMQ Le Cabaret 5 featured in Philippine Star!

This is one of the recent PR work I have done for MMQ Theatre and Events Group and its show, Le Cabaret 5! I really have to thank my dear friend, Kara of Young Star section of the Philippine Star for being very kind in featuring MMQ and its President and Founder, Michelle Washington last Friday, August 26, 2o11. To quote from the article: "The Cabaret is a multicultural soiree with guests from different embassies, organizations and social clubs. A number of luxury prizes will be up for raffle, and guests are expected to dine in an atmosphere reliving the best of the '20's. "

What happens in MMQ's Le Cabaret?

The past couple of weeks have been very busy for me. Currently I am the Public Relations Manager of MMQ Theatre and Events Group. This year, we are putting up a show called, LE CABARET 5. Just to give you a background, I have been part of MMQ since I was a sophomore in college. I started as a Production assistant then later on promoted to Stage Manager and finally became a Director. So, what happens in CABARET?

These are the highlights of our Le Circque Du Cabaret last year at Sofitel.  The show is well attended by Expats, Filipinos and several ambassadors including US Ambassador, Harry Thomas. As one of the Event Managers of MMQ's Cabaret, I can say that the show has evolved throughout the years, bringing in new performers and powerful production numbers.
This year's Le Cabaret takes its inspiration from Street style Burlesque performance!
Its like sequins and feathers meets hip hop!
